In one school in Santa Clarita, one person has been killed and several people injured by gunfire. The alleged perpetrator was caught shortly after the crime.

in Sagittarius opened fire at a high school in Santa Clarita, California, killing at least one human being. The Henry Mayo Hospital in Santa Clarita north of Los Angeles said on Twitter on Thursday that a patient had died. Two more patients were in mortal danger after the incident in the Saugus High School. The local fire department said that six patients had been taken to hospitals.

The alleged perpetrator was caught and also hospitalized, the sheriff said in Santa Clarita north of Los Angeles on Thursday. Five more people were taken to hospital with injuries. Two of them were in mortal danger. At first nothing was known about the motive.

Previously, the police had been looking for the alleged shooter. Residents in the vicinity of Saugus High School had been called to close their doors and stay in their homes. Temporarily, other schools in the area had been cordoned off as a precautionary measure.

In the United States, it happens again and again that in schools, shopping centers or in other public places people are killed by shots. Efforts to tighten gun laws have been going nowhere for years, especially as the Republicans of US President Donald Trump oppose it.
